Sequential Synthesis of Distributed Controllers for Cascade Interconnected Systems
We consider the problem of designing distributed controllers to ensure
passivity of a large-scale interconnection of linear subsystems connected in a
cascade topology. The control design process needs to be carried out at the
subsystem-level with no direct knowledge of the dynamics of other subsystems in
the interconnection. We present a distributed approach to solve this problem,
where subsystem-level controllers are locally designed in a sequence starting
at one end of the cascade using only the dynamics of the particular subsystem,
coupling with the immediately preceding subsystem and limited information from
the preceding subsystem in the cascade to ensure passivity of the
interconnected system up to that point. We demonstrate that this design
framework also allows for new subsystems to be compositionally added to the
interconnection without requiring redesign of the pre-existing controllers.Comment: Accepted to appear in the proceedings of the American Control

Provably safe cruise control of vehicular platoons
We synthesize performance-aware safe cruise control policies for longitudinal motion of platoons of autonomous vehicles. Using set-invariance theories, we guarantee infinite-time collision avoidance in the presence of bounded additive disturbances, while ensuring that the length and the cruise speed of the platoon are bounded within specified ranges. We propose: 1) a centralized control policy and 2) a distributed control policy, where each vehicle's control decision depends solely on its relative kinematics with respect to the platoon leader. A REVIEW ON SPECTRUM SENSING METHODS FOR COGNITIVE RADIO NETWORKS
In Wireless Communication, Radio Spectrum is doing a vital role; for the future need it should use efficient. The existing system, it is not possible to use it efficiently where the allocation of spectrum is done based on fixed spectrum access (FSA) policy. Several surveys prove that it show the way to inefficient use of spectrum. An innovative technique is needed for spectrum utilization effectively. Using Dynamic spectrum access (DSA) policy, available spectrum can be exploited. Cognitive radio arises to be an attractive solution which introduces opportunistic usage of the frequency bands that are not commonly occupied by licensed users. Cognitive radios promote open spectrum allocation which is a clear departure from habitual command and control allocation process for radio spectrum usage. In short, it permits the formation of “infrastructure-less†joint network clusters which is called Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN). A Cross-Domain Approach to Analyzing the Short-Run Impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. Electricity Sector
The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has rapidly spread around the globe
in 2020, with the U.S. becoming the epicenter of COVID-19 cases since late
March. As the U.S. begins to gradually resume economic activity, it is
imperative for policymakers and power system operators to take a scientific
approach to understanding and predicting the impact on the electricity sector.
Here, we release a first-of-its-kind cross-domain open-access data hub,
integrating data from across all existing U.S. wholesale electricity markets
with COVID-19 case, weather, cellular location, and satellite imaging data.
Leveraging cross-domain insights from public health and mobility data, we
uncover a significant reduction in electricity consumption across that is
strongly correlated with the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, degree of
